BLT 2/3 of 1979
In the fall of 1978, 2d Battalion, 3d Marines (2/3) was re-designated Battalion Landing Team 2/3 (BLT 2/3) and assigned the following units from the Marines Corps’ operating forces in Hawaii and in California:

- 1st Platoon,Bravo Company, 1st Tank Battalion, 1st Marine Division
- 4th Platoon,Delta Company, 3rd Amphibian Assault Battalion
- 2nd Platoon,Company A, 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion
