Leadership

http://blt23of1979.com/stage/images/usmc-reunion_clip_image001.jpgBLT 2/3 of 1979 was led by a professional and tactically proficient group of Officers, Staff Non-Commissioned Officers, and Non-Commissioned Officers.  After departing BLT 2/3 many of these individuals enjoyed successful careers as the senior leaders of the Marine Corps and in private business as well.

The core values of BLT 2/3 included duty, honor, courage, and commitment.  The highest standards of excellence, setting the example for the younger Marines and sailors, stressing accountability, and emphasizing the leadership traits and principles were all part of the daily routine and work ethic of this combat-ready unit.

Leadership in BLT 2/3 was not just a concept, but rather a duty and a way of life that had to be demonstrated every minute, of every hour, of every day by the actions and deeds of the Officers, SNCOs, and NCOs.

Leadership by example was emphasized and every leader was expected to be tactically proficient, lead from the front, and be in top physical condition.

Further, it was stressed that the Marine Corps was an essential force for the security of America and that each Marine had a responsibility to be ready when called upon to protect our national interests.
