Pre-Deployment Training Highlights
Prior to deploying to the Western Pacific, BLT 2/3 of 1979 underwent a rigorious training program in Hawaii and in California. This training included:
- Individual, platoon, company tactics in training areas on the Hawaiian Islands.
- Successfully executing a Combined Arms Exercise at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twenty-Nine Palms, California.
- Successfully completing the Marine Corps Combat Readiness Evaluation.
At the conclusion of pre-deployment training, BLT 2/3 of 1979 was designated Combat Ready and was capable of conducting the following contingency response operations:
