WESTPAC Deployment 1979
As part of Amphibious Ready Group Alpha, BLT 2/3 was forward deployed and operated throughout the WESTPAC from March 1979 until September 1979.
It was embarked aboard these U.S. Navy ships at Pearl Harbor.

Thirty days after returning to Hawaii in September 1979, BLT 2/3 was re-designated back to 2d Battalion, 3d Marines (2/3) and its components were reassigned to their parent units in Hawaii and California.
